UAW Endorses United Way
For more than 135 years, the United Way has been a driving force in improving countless lives and communities in the United States and across the world. Since World War II, the UAW has partnered with the United Way to further our mutual goal of advancing the common good throughout our society.
Over the years, the United Way has supported our union time and time again. In turn, countless UAW members have dedicated their time, energy, and resources to support the United Way's cause by organizing food and clothing drives and fundraisers to help the less fortunate and those affected by natural disasters across various regions. United Way Liaisons and Local Unions have worked together not only to help our members on strike with food pantries and financial assistance, but also to build wheelchair accessible ramps and to provide and assist with school supply rallies. United Way looks at the needs in every area and how we can all help strengthen our communities through giving and serving.
Article 1, Section 5 of our UAW Constitution calls on every UAW member to work to improve the general economic and social conditions in this country, and to strive to create a more just and prosperous society. Our partnership with the United Way has been crucial in moving us closer to achieving that mission.
The UAW proudly endorses the work of the United Way and its worksite giving campaigns. We strongly encourage you to continue supporting this great organization and the crucial work it undertakes each and every day.
